Chapter 1: Introduction to the letter, divisions, and wisdom


  • Paul sees the church as God sees it: blameless and pure.

  • Then Paul rebukes them for their divisions.

  • Paul writes at length about the wisdom of this world versus the wisdom of God.


  • What kind of divisions were there? Divisions of doctrine?

  • How does the wisdom of this world compare to the wisdom of God? vs.25

  • Paul purposefully speaks plainly so that the power of God the Holy Spirit convicts and convinces the Corinthians.
